“As is known, a video recording of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's speech as President of Armenia in 1993 was recently disseminated in the media, confirming that the ethnic cleansing carried out against Azerbaijanis was a state policy of Armenia,” the Western Azerbaijan Community said in a statement.

“This statement by Ter-Petrosyan, whose years of rule coincided with the occupation of Azerbaijani lands and the commission of most of the acts of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, is an extremely important proof of Armenia's systematic policy of ethnic cleansing and the dangerous racist ideology that facilitates such activities.

This statement testifies to the deliberate intent behind the policy of ethnic cleansing and occupation, the state responsibility of Armenia, the systematic and organized nature of crimes against humanity and crimes against peace, as well as the existence of a specific plan.

On this issue, the Western Azerbaijan Community sent letters to UN Secretary General António Guterres and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk. The letters call on the international community to strongly condemn the policy of racial discrimination and ethnic cleansing systematically carried out by Armenia at the state level.

The Western Azerbaijan Community will continue its efforts to ensure that the international community takes a decisive position against the policy of racial discrimination carried out by Armenia,” the community added.
