Azerbaijan, Sweden eye more effective cooperation within IOTA framework

Orkhan Nazarli, Chief of the State Tax Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy and President of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), held a video conference meeting with Katrin Westling Palm, Director General of the Swedish Tax Agency, Report informs, citing the State Tax Service.

The meeting highlighted the successful development of bilateral economic relations between the two countries in various fields, including taxation, and noted the importance of the meeting in terms of discussing cooperation prospects. Satisfaction was expressed with the results achieved through strengthening mutual relations.

During the meeting, the implementation of targets set during Azerbaijan's presidency of IOTA was discussed. The parties reviewed proposals for improving IOTA's activities based on long-term strategic goals and sustainable principles, and shared their views on tax administrations' support for the organization's initiatives, increasing funding opportunities, and the role of effective mechanisms.

The meeting continued with reviewing proposals to increase the efficiency of cooperation between the State Tax Service and the Swedish Tax Agency within the IOTA framework. Discussions were held on priority areas of joint activities, work done in promoting international relations of tax authorities, and prospective projects.
