Azerbaijan, UN Office on Drugs and Crime explore prospects for cooperation

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The meeting discussed cooperation in combating transnational crime, illegal drug trafficking, as well as prospects for cooperation as part of Azerbaijan`s COP29 Presidency.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the cooperation between the country`s relevant institutions and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as the joint events conducted during COP29.

He stressed the importance of training programs in combating transnational crimes, noting that joint projects for staff from different agencies could be highly beneficial.

The Foreign Minister noted that Azerbaijan’s COP29 presidency was marked by several key initiatives, with particular recognition given to the COP Truce Appeal which emphasizes the link between climate change and global peace.
