Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Friday with Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, the discussions focused on bilateral and multilateral strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as issues related to Azerbaijan’s Presidency of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The ministers underscored the existing potential for developing cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, energy, alternative energy, science and education, culture, youth and sports, and other domains.
Moreover, they stressed the importance of taking advantage of the potential for developing cooperation in tourism, agriculture, industry, high technologies, mutual investments, and transport.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the COP29 Conference, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this year, creates favorable opportunities for cooperation across new domains. In this vein, Bayramov expressed Azerbaijan’s willingness to collaborate with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
FM Bayramov also briefed his counterpart on the current post-conflict situation and realities in the region, the ongoing large-scale restoration process in the liberated territories, progress made in tackling the existing mine threat, as well as the current state of the normalization process and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The parties also discussed new areas of cooperation and other issues of mutual interest at the meeting.
