Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General meets with President of International Association of Prosecutors

Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, met with the President of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), Attorney General of the Public Prosecution Service of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Juan Bautista Mahiques to discuss preparations for the 29th IAP Annual Conference and General Meeting scheduled to take place in Baku from September 29 to October 2. The meeting addressed key organizational issues and preparations for the event.

Kamran Aliyev emphasized the growing trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Argentina, highlighting the importance of exchanging expertise and organizing bilateral visits of prosecutor's office staff. This collaboration stems from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan and the Attorney General's Office of Buenos Aires in March 2023 in Athens.

 

 

 

During the meeting, Aliyev also provided insights into Azerbaijan's hosting of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change later this year, and how climate change will be a topic of discussion among prosecutors at the upcoming IAP conference.

Juan Bautista Mahiques praised Azerbaijan’s reforms within the prosecutorial system and thanked the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office for its continuous support and contributions.

The delegation also visited an exhibition at the History Museum of the Prosecutor General’s Office, dedicated to the legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the evolution of Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor’s Office.
