Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Tuesday with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the discussions revolved around the current issues on the agenda between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe, as well as the current regional situation.

FM Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan is always open to cooperation with the institutions of the Council of Europe based on dialogue and mutual respect. The minister described the European Parliament's biased resolution of non-approval the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation in January 2024 as groundless and clearly biased, emphasizing that the resolution does not serve the dialogue between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe.

“The Azerbaijani side expects from the Council of Europe and its institutions the settlement of all disagreements between the country and the Organization through dialogue, mutual respect and understanding,” the minister added.

Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the Secretary General about the current situation and realities in the post-conflict period, as well as the progress of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
