Azerbaijan, Italy explore various aspects of strategic partnership

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister met with Antonio Tajani, Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting saw discussions on the political, economic, trade, energy, defense and security aspects of the Azerbaijani-Italian strategic partnership, inter-parliamentary relations and humanitarian cooperation.

The sides stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries, the ongoing large-scale energy projects, which play a key role in Europe`s energy security.

The two emphasized the importance of using existing opportunities to continue alternative energy cooperation.

The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, culture, tourism and sports.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan`s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and the new cooperation opportunities created by COP29.

Emphasizing the rapprochement and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined that the ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian legislation impedes the process.

The parties also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
