Azerbaijan, Qatar mull bilateral, multilateral cooperation

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs met Thursday with Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid Al Hajri, newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated the Qatari ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on the issues and future developments arising from the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Qatar, as well as the current situation in the region.

They hailed the successful bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, educational, humanitarian and other domains, noting that the two countries will mark the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations in the next few days.

The importance of political consultations and the activity of the Joint Economic, Trade, and Technical Intergovernmental Commission between the two countries was emphasized as key to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

In addition to the bilateral cooperation, the two officials also praised the mutually beneficial interaction within the regional and international organizations, adding that Azerbaijan’s Presidency of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) opens up the new opportunities for cooperation.

The Azerbaijani top diplomat informed the Qatari ambassador about on Azerbaijan's post-conflict progress, including the full restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the large-scale restoration projects in the liberated territories, and the ongoing normalization process with Armenia.

Ambassador Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid Al Hajri said he would spare no efforts in developing the current cooperation between the two countries.
