“The Baku Initiative Group is establishing a crucial platform for countries suffering from colonialism, and we are grateful for this effort. I believe that we, along with other peoples affected by colonialism, must bring this issue to the attention of the global community,” Carlos Fuller, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Belize to the UN told journalists.
He noted that Belize gained independence in 1981. "It was a very meticulous process. We fought tirelessly for our independence and achieved it after 20 years. Other countries and regions affected by colonialism should also make their voices heard," Fuller stated.
