Azerbaijan, Chile mull co-op opportunities in astronomy

Azerbaijan and Chile have discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of astronomy, the Chilean Embassy in Azerbaijan told Report.

“Astronomer David Rebolledo and Education and Public Outreach Coordinator Nicolas Lira, who recently arrived in Baku at the invitation of the Head of the Mission, Giancarlo Alberti, visited the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan,” the embassy noted.

“On their second day, May 21, ALMA’s astronomer David Rebolledo and scientific communicator Nicolas Lira, together with the Head of Mission, Giancarlo Alberti and Tural Salmanov from Azercosmos, visited Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory and had a pleasure to meet with its Executive Director Nariman Ismayilov and several Azerbaijani astronomers, get familiarized with the Observatory's celestial navigation equipment and share Chile's knowledge, experience and achievements in the field of astronomy.”

“David Rebolledo and Nicolas Lira, together with Giancarlo Alberti and with the support of Azercosmos were exploring possibilities of cooperation in the fields of astronomy, engineering and space observation with Baku State University and ADA University, by conducting meetings with its authorities and experts and making presentations to its students. On the same day our distinguished guests also met with the students of Oxbridge Academy and showed to the young representatives the beauty of astronomy and space science!”
