Issue of return of Western Azerbaijanis discussed at UN Forum

Ramil Hasan, Deputy Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Milli Majlis), is participating in the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development held on March 13–14, 2024, Report informs via the community.

Speaking at the panel dedicated to the fulfillment of SDG 16, which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, the MP touched upon the problem of displacement, which is one of the main difficulties in the fulfillment of the said sustainable development goal.

Ramil Hassan also talked about Armenia's ethnic cleansing of more than one million Azerbaijanis, including 300,000 in its territory. He added that this country is far from building a peaceful and inclusive society, which is the main goal of the 16th sustainable development goal.

The MP emphasized that creating conditions for the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia is a requirement of international human rights and an important act that serves sustainable development and peace in the region, and called on the international community to support this issue.
