14th plenary session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly commences in Baku

The 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) has today started in Baku.

 

Under the theme “Fostering regional cooperation for sustainable development in Asia”, the session brings together parliamentary delegations from about 40 countries, as well as parliamentary speakers from nearly 10 nations.

 

The meeting agenda includes various topics such as the election of the APA Bureau, the presentation of the report by the President of the APA Executive Council, address by the APA Secretary General, the election and approval of APA vice-presidents for 2024, and the approval of the agenda for the 14th plenary session of the Assembly. This agenda encompasses the composition of Standing Committees on political, economic, budget and planning, as well as social, cultural and political affairs.

 

The event will also feature meetings of the APA Executive Council and the Standing Committees on political, economic, budget and planning, as well as social and cultural affairs.

 

Following the session, the Baku Declaration and the Final Report of the APA Secretariat will be adopted.

 

The plenary session is scheduled to conclude on February 24.
