There is no need for guarantors and third parties to sign the peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan because this document is signed by two sovereign countries that have the right to resolve issues between them without any mediators, Fuad Huseynaliyev, director of the Report Information Agency, told CBC TV.
According to him, positive dynamics are observed in the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia without the participation of third parties: "Earlier, the negotiation process, which Armenia delayed for months in an attempt to involve some third countries, especially France, Russia, the United States and even the European Union (EU), hasn’t yielded a result. However, some progress was achieved when the negotiations went on a bilateral basis."
He emphasized that the signing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan should not be affected by the change of vectors in Armenia's foreign policy: "There is an anti-Russian orientation in the foreign policy of official Yerevan, a change of course toward the West. In this regard, the expansion of the military-political mission of the EU on the conditional border with Azerbaijan is not a coincidence. In other words, all these are the steps taken to turn Armenia completely towards the West. In this case, Armenia's foreign policy course is not important for Azerbaijan. But I think that the leadership of Armenia should understand that the change of some vectors in foreign policy should not affect the relations with its neighbors, and especially, the signing of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan."
