Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Minister of State for Europe and North America of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Leo Docherty.
The meeting saw discussions on bilateral and regional cooperation on the agenda between the two countries, as well as the international security issues.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the multifaceted relations with Great Britain, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the opportunities for further strengthening cooperation in political, economic, energy, security and humanitarian fields. He said that the intensification of political dialogue is important in terms of determining new areas of cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transport, education and renewable energy, as well as the possible activities of the British companies in the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani FM provided insight into the current situation and the realities in the region, as well as the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories and the landmine threat, which hinders these efforts. FM Bayramov also touched upon Azerbaijan’s plans for the establishment of sustainable peace in the South Caucasus region and the practical steps taken in this regard, as well as the agenda of normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The parties also exchanged views on new areas of cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
