Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has had a telephone conversation with Minister of State for Europe of the United Kingdom Leo Docherty.

The conversation revolved around cooperation agenda between the two countries, as well as current situation in the region.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed Docherty about the current developments in the region after the local anti-terrorist measures conducted by Azerbaijan in Karabakh.

The Azerbaijani FM noted that putting an end to the presence of the illegal Armenian armed formations, which posed a threat to peace and stability in the region, and their disarmament once again demonstrated the horrible level of militarization in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan. He noted that the anti-terrorist measures had contributed to the reintegration of the Armenian residents living in Karabakh. In this regard, he also highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts towards meeting the needs of the local Armenian residents after the contacts held between the Azerbaijani governmental representatives and representatives of the local Armenians.

The FM also described Armenian “ethnic cleansing” claims as unfounded, saying Azerbaijan is taking steps towards the reintegration of the local Armenian residents.

He once again stressed Azerbaijan’s commitment to the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as reintegration efforts of the Armenian residents living in Karabakh in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international mechanisms.

During the telephone conversation, they also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
