Co-organized by the United Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Congress and the "Lviv City Coordination and Methodological Center" Galician Youth Union, the event, themed "Tragic Events in Khojaly and the Ukrainian War: History Lessons the World Never Learned", brought together representatives of the diaspora from various regions of Ukraine, the Lviv community, servicemen, and youth.

The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the Khojaly genocide, followed by a video presentation highlighting both the Khojaly tragedy and the Ukrainian war.

Addressing the audience, Shahriyar Maharramov, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the United Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Congress, provided detailed insights into the Khojaly genocide. He emphasized the significance of the "Justice for Khojaly!" campaign and similar initiatives launched globally under the leadership of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Maharramov noted the importance of international recognition of the genocide, citing resolutions by the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the parliaments of Mexico, Pakistan, Indonesia, Colombia, Panama, Paraguay, Honduras, Afghanistan, Guatemala, and Djibouti, which have formally recognized the Khojaly massacre as an act of genocide.

Colonel Taras Gren, Director of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region, shared his memories of his Azerbaijani compatriot Yunis Ismayilov, with whom he studied at a military school in Lviv. He recalled Ismayilov’s immediate decision to join the war when the Karabakh conflict erupted.

Other speakers, including Amet Bekir, head of the Tatar community, and Galina Makarchuk, head of the Lviv City Coordination and Methodological Center Galician Youth Union, stressed the need for a legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide.
