Prosecutor General: Remains of at least 14 people found in mass grave in Khojaly

During the investigation into the mass graves discovered in the center of the liberated city of Khojaly, it was established that the exposed human remains belonged to at least 14 people, Report informs, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

 

The Prosecutor General's Office noted that the Department of Forensic Science and IT continues to investigate the human remains mass buried in the center of Khojaly (not far from the former carpet factory), discovered during restoration and construction work.

 

As a result of the inspection and investigation carried out at the site, it was established that in the mass graves, there were remains of at least 14 people who were subjected to various tortures, ill-treatment and violence, and their hands were tied with a rope. In addition, it was established that they were not buried individually and by the requirements of their religion.

 

In order to fully identify the human remains buried on the territory, employees of the Prosecutor General's Office together with the representatives of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens, the Union of Forensic Medicine and Pathological Anatomy of the Health Ministry, The National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the representative office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan have inspected the site. The discovered bone fragments were seized for examination and laboratory study, and other necessary procedural actions were also carried out.
