Azerbaijan, Pakistan discuss prospects for military cooperation

On May 28, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, in the city of Lachin.

Minister Hasanov expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Pakistani guest to Azerbaijan and congratulated him on his promotion to the high military rank of Field Marshal.

Colonel General Hasanov emphasized that strengthening relations with friendly and brotherly Pakistan in the military field—as in other areas—remains a priority under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.

Field Marshal Munir thanked the Azerbaijani side for the warm welcome and hospitality, highlighting the importance of reciprocal visits for the further development of military cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects for military collaboration between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, including enhancing the frequency of joint exercises with the application of modern technologies. They also discussed several other matters of mutual interest.
