Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met with a Turkish delegation led by Colonel General Yaşar Kadıoğlu, Chief of the Main Intelligence Department of the Armed Forces of Türkiye, during their official visit to Azerbaijan.
Welcoming the delegation, Minister Hasanov highlighted the growing military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, reflecting the strong fraternal ties between the nations. He also underscored the significance of events held under the Azerbaijani-Turkish High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting. The Turkish delegation was briefed on the reforms undertaken in Azerbaijan’s military following the 44-day Patriotic War, under the leadership of President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Colonel General Kadıoğlu expressed gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing that the strategic alliance between the two countries is grounded in their historic friendship and brotherhood. He noted the importance of ongoing joint exercises in facilitating mutual exchange of experience.
The meeting also addressed prospects for enhancing military cooperation and regional security issues.
Later, the First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, held discussions with the Turkish delegation. Both sides emphasized the value of such meetings in expanding military collaboration and increasing the frequency of joint exercises to enhance the professionalism of servicemen from both countries.
The meetings concluded with an extensive exchange of views on various topics of mutual interest.
