Azerbaijan Army’s engineer-sapper units clear 39,721 hectares of land from mines and unexploded ordnance

In July this year, more than 1,184 hectares of territory were completely cleared of mines in the liberated areas by the Engineering Troops of the Azerbaijan Army, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

“To date, the Azerbaijan Army’s engineer-sapper units have cleared 39,721 hectares of land from mines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories. In total, 13,045 pieces of unexploded military ammunition, 3,318 pieces of anti-tank mines, and 10,463 anti-personnel mines have been detected and destroyed.

In accordance with the plan, necessary measures for restoring social well-being and ensuring safety, including engineering support to expedite road and infrastructure works, are ongoing in the historically Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation,” the ministry added.
