The latest feature in AZERTAC’s “If I Were a Tourist” column focuses on the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.

The museum’s building was originally the residence of the renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev and his family. Recognized as one of the most beautiful architectural landmarks of Baku, Taghiyev’s mansion was designed by Iosif Goslavsky, chief architect of the city.

The museum is notable for its exhibits reflecting Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, spanning from the earliest periods of its history to the modern era. It offers engaging excursions, interactive presentations, and thematic exhibitions for both local and international visitors.

In 2007, a Memorial Museum of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev was established within the building, comprising nine rooms featuring original furniture, objects, and documents that illustrate the daily life of the Taghiyev family. Visitors have the opportunity not only to learn historical facts but also to experience the lifestyle and values of a bygone era.

A visit to the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan leaves an unforgettable impression for those wishing to explore the country’s history, culture, and architectural heritage.
