On June 19, the First Jordanian-Azerbaijani Philatelic Exhibition opened at the administrative building of the National Library of Jordan in Amman. The event was co-organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Jordan Philatelic and Numismatic Society.
The national anthems of both countries were performed during the official opening.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Eldar Salimov and President of the Jordan Philatelic and Numismatic Society Jalil Tannous delivered opening speeches. Ambassador Salimov spoke about the history of Azerbaijani postage stamps, emphasizing that they reflect the country’s national identity, cultural heritage, and historical memory. He also provided detailed information on the development of Azerbaijani philately since 1919 and highlighted the significant work carried out in this field by “Azerpocht” during the years of independence.
In his speech, Jalil Tannous underlined the exhibition’s important role in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. He emphasized the historical and cultural value of postage stamps and recalled major joint events held in recent years with the Azerbaijani Embassy, including exhibitions and presentations in 2023 and 2024. He also expressed hope that this cooperation would continue.
As part of the event, a video showcasing philatelic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan was screened, and commemorative plaques were exchanged.
