As part of the ongoing “Days of Azerbaijan” in Izmir, marking the 40th anniversary of the sister city partnership between Baku and Izmir, an exhibition of contemporary Azerbaijani artists titled “The Elegance of Colors: The Triumph of Art” has opened.
The exhibition features works by female artists from Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijani artists residing in Türkiye.
The event was organized as a project of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Türkiye, with the support of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts and the Izmir-Azerbaijan Association.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Perviz Altay, Chairman of the Izmir-Azerbaijan Association, stated that exhibiting Azerbaijani works in the historic city of Izmir—one of Türkiye’s major cultural hubs—is of great importance for promoting Azerbaijani culture and the art of painting.
Samir Abbasov, Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Türkiye, highlighted the friendship and cultural ties between the two brotherly nations, as well as projects aimed at promoting Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage and art in Türkiye.
The artistic part of the event featured performances of Azerbaijani national music, followed by a viewing of the exhibition, where detailed information about the artworks was provided. Reflecting the rich traditions and national spirit of Azerbaijani fine arts, the exhibition prominently features portraits of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The exhibition, which has been met with great interest by art lovers in Izmir, will remain open until May 28.
