The Azerbaijan State News Agency- AZERTAC has hosted a meeting with a delegation led by Secretary General of China’s Xinhua News Agency Jing Ruyue as both agencies agreed to expand cooperation.
The meeting saw discussions on the development of bilateral relations.
AZERTAC Chairman of Board Vugar Aliyev highlighted the agency’s activities, emphasizing that the news agency maintains close relations with Xinhua News Agency, as well as other Chinese media outlets. Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of cooperation between AZERTAC and Xinhua news agencies, Vugar Aliyev stressed the importance of raising relations to a new level.
“Redefining the cooperation between the news agencies is the need of the hour. The information landscape is going through changes. The development of the social media is leading to the faster spreading of news, as well as the spreading of fake news. In these circumstances, there is a great need for the leading agencies as a reliable source of information. In this regard, we must enhance our cooperation to convey accurate information about our countries,” Vugar Aliyev said.
Touching upon the exchange of information in the field of economy, Xinhua Secretary General Jing Ruyue expressed the agency’s keenness to diversify cooperation in this area. “This will contribute to informing the Chinese society about Azerbaijani business life, as well as the Azerbaijani business community about Chinese entrepreneurs. The exchange of information in this area will contribute significantly to the development of relations between the two countries”, Jing Ruyue mentioned.
The meeting also drew attention to exchange of photo and video materials between the two news agencies, as well as cooperation within the international platforms, including Belt and Road Economic Information Partnership Platform, of which AZERTAC is a founding member.
The guests also familiarized themselves with the museum of AZERTAC, as well as conditions created for journalists at the agency.
