A landmine explosion occurred on April 26 in the village of Syrkhavand within the liberated Aghdara district, according to a joint statement released by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Azerbaijan National Mine Action Agency (ANAMA). The victim, Vugar Salah oglu Ahmadov (born 1967), a resident of Yenibina village in the Khojaly district, sustained a left leg injury after an anti-personnel mine detonated in an uncleared area along the former line of contact. An investigation is currently underway by the Tartar District Prosecutor’s Office.
In response to the incident, ANAMA, the MIA, and the Prosecutor General’s Office have issued a stern warning to citizens to strictly adhere to safety regulations, respect mine warning signs, and avoid entering unfamiliar or fenced-off territories.
