At the conclusion of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, the "Istanbul Declaration" and five resolutions proposed at the initiative of the country were adopted. The adoption of a resolution on the Western Azerbaijan Community during the session is considered a particularly significant milestone.
The resolution titled “The Right to Return of Azerbaijanis Forcibly and Systematically Expelled from Present-Day Armenian Territory”, adopted for the first time within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expresses the support of OIC member states for the dignified return of the Western Azerbaijan Community to their homeland. It also condemns the denial of the rights of the Community by Armenia.
