United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres held a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in New York.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the United Nations’ central role in addressing global challenges, including peace and security, development, and climate change. He emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to promoting international peace and security as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2025–2026) while highlighting the country’s longstanding dedication to multilateralism and the UN Charter, including its contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts.
He welcomed the UN Secretary-General’s initiative to organize the Summit of the Future and expressed hope that the Pact for the Future would be fully implemented, ensuring the necessary financing for developing countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate objectives.
Secretary-General Guterres thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for Pakistan’s active engagement at the United Nations, as well as for its contributions to maintaining international peace and security through its participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
