“The people of Réunion are neither considered Réunionese nor French. We must fight against the neocolonial system,” said Fatima Mze Said, a member of Mayotte's “CSUM Collective Stop Uwambu” movement, addressing the conference titled “Réunion's Independence: View on France's Colonial Legacy and Path to Sovereignty.”
Noting that Réunion is exploited by France, Fatima Mze Said emphasized, “That is why we must struggle together to uphold our dignity.”
