On September 17, 2024, a conference titled “Innovative Technologies for Digitalization and BIM” was held at the Landmark Hotel in Baku. The event was organized by AZEL Systems, a leading system integrator in Azerbaijan, in collaboration with American companies Autodesk, a global leader in architecture, engineering, and construction solutions, and ESRI (ArcGIS), a leading producer of geographic information systems (GIS).
Opening the conference, Igor Yakovenko, General Director of AZEL Systems, stated that the company specializes in implementing information technology and digitalization solutions. Within its projects, AZEL Systems actively promotes the use of the digital construction concept and BIM (Building Information Modeling). He also emphasized the importance of using only licensed software, which helps avoid the risks of model destruction during design and helps accelerate construction processes and cost control.
Speaking at the event, Evren Arin, Regional Manager for Autodesk (Turkey), highlighted Autodesk’s innovative role in design and manufacturing technologies and discussed the new architecture of the platform that ensures integration between various data systems, such as BIM and GIS, enhancing collaboration and productivity in the construction industry.
Valery Fomin, Business Development Director for ESRI (ArcGIS) solutions, noted that the joint presentation by representatives of ESRI and Autodesk at the seminar is a result of close cooperation between the companies on a global scale. Currently, the R&D departments of both companies are working together to create new products, one example being ESRI's GeoBIM solution. It is important to highlight that the collaboration between ESRI and Autodesk provides users with comprehensive solutions for all phases of project work—from planning to construction and operation.
Technical specialists from Autodesk and ESRI also presented at the conference:
∙ Alexander Shipilov, an Autodesk solutions expert, discussed BIM based on Autodesk solutions.
∙ Maxim Melnikov, Autodesk solutions expert, talked about the integration of BIM and GIS, emphasizing effective data interaction during the lifecycle of a project.
∙ Konstantin Nagornyuk, head of technical pre-sales preparation, discussed ESRI ArcGIS geographic information systems for infrastructure projects.
∙ Leading GIS specialist Alexander Leonov presented the advantages of using Autodesk and ArcGIS solutions together in urban planning, managing linear assets, and creating digital twins of cities, ports, enterprises, and airports. He provided examples of effective use of CAD and GIS in various industries.
The audience received the presentations with great interest.
Following the conference, a panel discussion took place with representatives from AZEL Systems, Autodesk, ESRI, and other guests.
