An accident occurred on the Baku-Guba highway in Azerbaijan, resulting in the loss of two lives. The incident took place on the morning of August 29, 2024, when a DAF truck driver lost control of the vehicle while traversing a bridge in the Shabran district.

According to the Guba Regional Group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the truck veered off the bridge and plummeted onto the railway tracks below. The impact was so severe that both the driver and passenger died instantly at the scene. The collision also sparked a fire, engulfing the truck's cabin in flames.

The Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told Report that the truck was traveling from Gizilburun to Gilgilchay when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to fall from the bridge and ignite upon impact. Emergency services, including a fire brigade from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, were swiftly dispatched to the scene. The fire was promptly extinguished, but the damage had already been done.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the railway line's contact network has suffered extensive damage, forcing the temporary suspension of train services in the affected direction.
