Deputy Minister: Efforts underway to prevent water losses in Azerbaijan

In order to prevent water losses in Azerbaijan, efforts are focused on reconstructing and restoring irrigation canals, creating new drinking water sources, and building new reservoirs to increase water resources, said Vugar Karimov, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Karimov made the announcement at the event titled “The Role of Water Management Systems in Climate-Resilient Agriculture: COP29 Roundtable Discussions.”

He emphasized that, given the rising water demand, it is crucial to use economical water technologies across all sectors of the economy and to meet water needs through the purified use of wastewater.

The deputy minster noted that recycled water is extensively used as the primary water source in the greening projects implemented by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. “This approach ensures efficient water use by both protecting drinking water resources and promoting water recycling,” he added.
