A media briefing was held on Tuesday, for the upcoming international scientific conference titled "Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024" in Baku. The conference, dedicated to the 2nd anniversary of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, will be co-organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre, Azerbaijan’s Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR), the G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum, and the Baku Initiative Group.

The conference is expected to bring together over 130 representatives from 32 countries, including scholars, experts from international organizations, religious figures, as well as members of non-governmental organizations.

AIR Center Chairman of the Board Farid Shafiyev stressed the importance of the event, highlighting its significant role in raising the awareness of the international community about Azerbaijani realities.

He also emphasized that Azerbaijan had emerged as a middle power in international relations, adding that the country would host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as other prestigious international events this year.

Executive Director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center Ravan Hasanov pointed out that the conference’s main goal is to amplify the voices of the people suffering from Islamophobia to the global community.

He also said that the Baku-hosted conference would act as a platform against the religious injustice.
