Haber Global: Construction of Azerbaijani quarter in Kahramanmaras to be completed by year-end

The construction of the Azerbaijani quarter in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras, which was seriously damaged by the devastating earthquake on February 6 last year, is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2024, Report informs via Haber Global TV.

The Turkish channel says that the quarter, located at the intersection of Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan avenues, will be ready in the summer. During construction, special attention is paid to the seismic resistance of buildings.

The residential area has all the necessary infrastructure. It is also planned to build a primary school named after Heydar Aliyev there.

The channel notes that, in addition to moral support, Azerbaijan provided material assistance to Türkiye totaling about $100 million: “Help from Azerbaijan came a few hours after the earthquake, and today we see the support of the brotherly country in reconstruction work in disaster zones. One of the most affected cities is Kahramanmaras, where 53,945 buildings were damaged. After their destruction, new buildings are being constructed. Among them is the Azerbaijani quarter. It is planned to construct buildings here for 1,323 apartments and create 799 jobs."

The TV program also includes the text of a letter of condolences sent by President Ilham Aliyev to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the first anniversary of the earthquake. The President of Azerbaijan said that this disaster deeply shocked Azerbaijan too. He expressed confidence that thanks to Erdogan's leadership and the determination of the Turkish people, the spirit of solidarity and strong will, the powerful Turkish state will soon overcome these difficulties.
