Russia sees attempts to promote the interests of NATO countries in the South Caucasus region through Armenia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS.

"As for whipping up anti-Russian sentiments, this is being done artificially to a greater extent. We know about the number of non-governmental organizations that have been created in Armenia in recent years, and there were many of them before too. These organizations are not created with the aim of promoting friendly relations between Armenia and the Russian Federation. Quite the opposite. They are aimed at creating the ground for anti-Russian sentiments here and preparing for the promotion of interests in this region through Armenia, primarily of the United States and the European Union, and NATO countries. We see these attempts, they achieve some results," Lavrov said.
