The Heydar Aliyev Center hosted the presentation of a documentary by first Deputy Director General of TASS news agency Mikhail Gusman titled “The Heart of a Leader”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev on Tuesday.

The director of the film is Valery Spirin and the screenwriter is Marina Denisevich. The film is available in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. The film shooting took place in Moscow, Baku, and Nakhchivan.

The film includes rare archive footages of Heydar Aliyev’s exclusive interviews to Mikhail Gusman, the political activity, including the signing of the “Contract of the Century”, the presidency years, as well as remarks by famous political figures, including Bill Clinton, George Bush, Jacque Chirac, Madeleine Albright, Tony Blair and Zbigniew Brzezinski about Heydar Aliyev.

Prior to the screening of the documentary, Mikhail Gusman said: “October 10 is a special day. On this day, 30 years ago, Heydar Aliyev was sworn in as a President of the independent Azerbaijan. He has actually saved the country, which was going through a difficult period.”

“The film is called “The Heart of a Leader” as Heydar Aliyev has devoted himself to the Azerbaijani people throughout his life. It was Heydar Aliyev’s great wish for Azerbaijan to liberate its territories from the occupation and hoist its flag in the liberated city of Shusha. On November 8, 2020, the Azerbaijani flag was hoisted over Shusha, and on September 20 this year over the whole Karabakh,” Gusman added.

Following the presentation, Mikhail Gusman expressed his gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as Azerbaijan National Television (AzTV) and Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC).
