A delegation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has attended the Fourth Extraordinary Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The event, underway from October 1 to 5, as per the decision made during the 27th Universal Postal Congress, reflects the commitment to adapt and innovate in response to rapid changes in the postal environment. The discussions mainly revolve around creating an environment that encourages cooperation among postal stakeholders for the greater benefit of society.
The event also featured the exhibition of postage stamps in a virtual format, in which postage stamps, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, highlighting the life and political activity of the National Leader of Azerbaijan, as well as stamps on the theme "Azerbaijani heritage" and "Political attributes of Azerbaijan" were also exhibited.
With 192 member countries, the UPU is the primary forum for postal cooperation between governments, Posts, regulators and other postal sector stakeholders, helping to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Ministers, heads of postal regulators and postal CEOs will take the opportunity of the Riyadh meeting to discuss the UPU’s future strategy for 2026–2029 during the UPU Strategy Summit on October 4 and 5.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shahin Abdullayev and the embassy staff also visited the exhibition.
