BP plans major seismic survey at Shah Deniz field

BP Azerbaijan plans to begin a seismic exploration program at the Shah Deniz field in 2025, Report informs referring to the company.

Among the upcoming key activities planned for this contract territory, the Shah Deniz 2025-2034 seismic survey program monitoring changes to
the gas reservoir through a number of acquisition programs, the company reported.

Additionally, BP Azerbaijan plans to complete drilling and completion of additional wells from the Shah Deniz Bravo platform by 2027 as part of Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz field.

As of the end of the third quarter of 2024, 21 out of 26 planned wells have been drilled under Stage 2: five in the northern flank, four in the western, four in the southeastern, five in the southwestern and three in the northeastern sections.

On December 17, 2013, the Shah Deniz consortium signed the final investment decision for the Stage 2 project. Under this project, gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Europe began.

Gas and condensate production at the field is carried out from the Shah Deniz Alpha platform under Stage 1 and the Shah Deniz Bravo platform under Stage 2. Gas production there began in December 2006.
