Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry hosts meeting of Commission on implementation of projects in field of use of renewable energy sources

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy held Friday another meeting of the commission established by the relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on additional measures for the implementation of projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources.

Addressing the meeting, Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Chairman of the Commission, highlighted the strategic importance of the steps being taken in both the legislative framework and the execution of large-scale projects in line with the directives of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to promote the green energy transition.

The meeting heard a report on the activities carried out since the Commission’s last meeting. The report provided detailed information on the status of various projects, the work completed, and the results achieved.

The discussions revolved around the current stage of the solar energy auction and the steps to be taken in this direction. The commission members emphasized that the efficient organization of auctions would create opportunities to increase private investments in green energy projects.

The meeting also featured a presentation on the work being carried out under the AZURE project, which aims to strengthen the transmission network to ensure the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, supported by the World Bank.

Additionally, the Commission reviewed the work related to the Shafaq Solar Power Plant project, being implemented by bp. The participants noted that the 240 MW power plant plays an important role in increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s total energy production and will accelerate the transition to clean energy in the region.

The representatives of the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Justice, Emergency Situations, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Central Bank, ANAMA, Azerenergy OJSC, Azerishiq OJSC, AREA attended at the meeting.
