Pakistan, Azerbaijan mull prospects for bilateral economic, trade ties

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have discussed the prospect of bilateral economic and trade relations to look further at bilateral and multilateral cooperation in different sectors of the economy, Report informs via Profit Magazine.

The discussions were held during the meeting between Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov and Deputy Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate Syedaal Khan at the residence of the deputy chairman. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest including bilateral relations and the overall situation of the region were discussed in detail.

Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the Senate said that Pakistan values its fraternal relations with Azerbaijan and there is a need to increase cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economic and trade, investment, energy, defense, agriculture and natural resources.

The deputy chairman of the Senate said that there is an urgent need to promote investment and trade between the two countries and it is necessary to remove the existing obstacles for the improvement of the economy. He said that parliamentary and institutional cooperation can help promote relations at the public level.

Emphasizing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the meeting, Syedaal Khan said that Pakistan will further promote economic relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that trade and investment opportunities can be found through frequent exchanges of delegations in business sectors.

Syedaal Khan said that Pakistan, especially Baluchistan province is rich in mineral wealth and will prove to be important in changing the destiny of this region. Pakistan will prove to be the economic and trade hub of the region and Investors and businessmen from all over the world should take advantage of the investment opportunities in Pakistan, he added.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov, agreed with the views of the Deputy Chairman of the Senate and said that Azerbaijan is keen to further develop its relations with Pakistan.

They agreed to prepare an early action plan for the exchange of delegations in business sectors while stressing the need for institutional cooperation.
