The opening ceremony of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup 2025 was held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.
The event began with the presentation of participating countries and their flags.
Addressing the ceremony, Farid Gayibov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, highlighted the country’s tradition of hosting prestigious gymnastics competitions and its notable achievements in the sport. He emphasized that Azerbaijan has consistently delivered successful results in artistic gymnastics and that this competition will play a crucial role in promoting and developing the discipline. The event also provides athletes with valuable experience on an international stage.
Following the minister's speech, the World Cup was officially declared open, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed. The ceremony continued with an artistic performance.
Azerbaijan is represented in the competition by:
• Men’s events: Nikita Simonov (still rings), Ivan Tikhonov (horizontal bar), Rasul Ahmadzade (pommel horse), Mansum Safarov (vault), Murad Agharzayev (floor exercise), and Ramin Damirov (parallel bars).
• Women’s events: Nazanin Teymurova and Deniz Aliyeva, both competing in all six disciplines.
At the end of the four-day competition, gymnasts with the highest scores will be awarded the traditional "AGF Trophy."
The World Cup will run until March 9.
