On October 9, Elnur Abdullayev, Chairman of Global Media Group, and Samir Mammadov, Head of the UN Global Compact for Azerbaijan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Report informs.

Based on the document, the two organizations will jointly implement measures to promote sustainable business practices and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact in society.

Global Media Group, which recently joined the Global Compact as a member, has demonstrated its commitment to promoting responsible business principles in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas and to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Global Media Group's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is also based on sustainable development values and responsible business practices. Within this strategy, the group of companies continues to implement a number of initiatives. These include increasing energy efficiency, automating processes, reducing waste and collaborating with relevant organizations for recycling, minimizing the use of paper documents through digitalization, ensuring a fair work environment, contributing to the social environment, encouraging close cooperation by improving employees, and more.

"Sustainability has become an irreplaceable priority in today's global business world. As Global Media Group, we have committed to building our mission on sustainability principles. Each of the companies within Global Media Group - Global Management, Report Information Agency, Baku TV, and Oxu.az - holds international certificates ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, covering everything from quality management to environmental protection and occupational safety.

"Our participation in the UN Global Compact allows us to move forward in environmental responsibility and take confident steps in this direction. We aim to integrate sustainability principles into the strategy, operations, and culture of the holding and its constituent companies, and to manage processes more transparently. All these steps help the company play an active and responsible role in sustainability and, as a result, create a positive impact socially, environmentally, and economically. Thus, based on this memorandum, Global Media Group plans not only to be a member of the Global Compact but also to collaborate on larger projects," said Global Media Group Chairman Elnur Abdullayev.

"Today, media plays a crucial role in sustainable development by increasing awareness, shaping public opinion, and promoting accountability in environmental, social, and economic issues, thereby driving collective action towards a more sustainable future. Global Media Group's commitment and partnership with the UN Global Compact is a crucial turning point not only for the company and its constituent organizations to be sustainable but also to mobilize private sectors operating in Azerbaijan for the global future we aim to ensure," said Samir Mammadov, Head of the UN Global Compact for Azerbaijan.

The fact that COP29 will be held in Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev's decree dated December 25, 2023, declaring 2024 as the Green World Solidarity Year shows that this year will be important for the country. Global Media Group, which wants to make greater contributions to international platforms in sustainability, will continue to promote sustainability in the business world and strive in this direction for a green world.
