Azerbaijan’s “Support to Health” Public Union hosted Saturday a meeting with representatives of international organizations scheduled to attend COP29.
The meeting gathered together Climate finance representatives of nine constituency NGO groups of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a delegation of Climate Action Network-International (CAN), as well as local NGOs.
The event covered discussions on the role of observers in the implementation of commitments under the Convention and Paris Agreement, as well as ways to deliver a fair share of climate finance embracing the needs and priorities of developing countries.
The meeting saw an exchange of views on the events scheduled by international and regional organizations and foreign NGOs during the COP29. The foreign NGOs were also informed about the Azerbaijan’s Action Agenda.
As part of the preparations for the COP29 global climate conference, about 30 foreign organizations visited Azerbaijan to attend the eleventh Technical Expert Dialogue and the 3rd meeting under the ad hoc work programme on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance held in Baku on September 9-12.
