In 2023, the talks about a potential MMA fight between Tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg gripped fight fans, according to Essentially Sports. Proposed by the Tesla CEO, no one seemed more excited about this fight than Dana White, who envisioned a massive financial success. Although it didn’t happen, the UFC CEO recently revealed what was going on behind the scenes, including discussions he had with both parties.
Before meeting Mark Zuckerberg, Dana White’s knowledge regarding the Meta CEO was limited to just the move, ‘Social Network’, which is based on ‘Zuck’s life and how he made Facebook. However, they hit it off on the right note pretty quickly, and a few months later, Elon Musk called out Zuckerberg for an MMA superfight. Dana White claims that he was thrilled to be the mediator between the two billionaires.
“I walked away from that first meeting liking Mark [Zuckerberg]. We started to create a relationship from there. We talked and you know, he’s a UFC fan and we became friends, and then the whole Elon vs Mark Zuckerberg fight thing that was going at that time,” Dana White told Tucker Carlson. “That was real, and I was in the middle of it and I had a blast doing the negotiations with that thing.”
Dana White further revealed that he took a lot of time discussing the fight with Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg in detail since it would have been a sanctioned fight. Meanwhile, we all know that there was a lot of noise surrounding the venue of the fight because Italy’s ancient wonder, the Colosseum, entered the picture and Dana White claims the Italian government liked that idea.
Yes, the UFC CEO claimed that when he was discussing the fight between both parties, he got everything cleared up – from the weight class to the venue. While he didn’t what the talks about weight class were like, he did claim that the Italian Government was willing to be the host and offer the Colosseum for Mark Zuckerberg vs Elon Musk. The only thing the authorities of the nation wanted was to be compensated well.
“[He was] talking to Elon for an hour every night, talking to Mark an hour every night… [They talked] about the fight, where it would be, what weight classes, this, that… and I was literally doing conference calls with the government in Italy to do this thing in the Colosseum in Rome,” Dana White added. “For the right number, the Colosseum was going to let us do that fight there, and then, eventually, you know, it started to fall apart.”
