A partial lunar eclipse was witnessed by the people in Pakistan and many other countries across the globe on Wednesday morning.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department the lunar eclipse started in Pakistan at 5:41. The eclipse climaxed at 7:44 am and ended at 9:47 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Earlier the Pakistan Meteorological Department has said that the country will experience a partial lunar eclipse on September 18, 2024. This marks the second lunar eclipse of the current year.

It is worth mentioning that the lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon is slightly closer to Earth, which happens because the Moon's orbit is slightly elliptical, or oval-shaped. When the earth is between the sun and the moon, it causes Lunar Eclipses by casting a shadow on the moon’s surface.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted that lunar eclipse will be visible in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic and Antarctica. Moreover, it was revealed that it will be partially visible in Pakistan. However during the phase, some of the time the moon will be below the horizon, therefore will not be visible.

A large number of people across the country along with people from America, Europe, Australia, Africa, and North and Eastern Asia also witnessed the second lunar eclipse of the year.
