The sessions of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change provide a valuable international forum for sharing knowledge, best practices and developing action to combat climate change, CEO and founder of Energy One Solutions International, Alain Steven, told Report.

In his opinion, the COP sessions are important for countries to reaffirm their commitment to combat climate change, leaving politics aside.

Even if commitments and decision-making are slow at the national level, the sessions provide information and guidance for states to develop climate initiatives regardless of their foreign policies, he said.

Speaking about converting infrastructures to green energy, Steven noted that this process is extremely complex.

The challenge is not only to introduce green energy sources, but also to ensure the reliability and sustainability of power systems, he said.

He explained that massive decarbonization affects the stability of power systems because the grid operator cannot fully control it.

Steven believes that the energy systems of the future will be a collection of virtual power plants, self-governing and self-sufficient, exchanging services through the main grid and adapting to market conditions.
