Mukhtar Babayev: Azerbaijan takes measures to mitigate impact of climate change

In order to mitigate the impact of climate change, Azerbaijan has implemented a number of measures, such as increasing the use of renewable energy sources and developing more efficient green technologies, Acting Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, said at the forum on "The Tax System in the New Development Period: Strategic Objectives for a Sustainable Economy" in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that a draft law has been prepared for the purpose of reducing the greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere as a result of economic activity, creating and regulating the system of carbon credits and carbon trading: "In order to absorb the harmful gases released into the environment and create a healthy ecological environment, massive tree planting, forest plantations, and agro-gardens are being carried out to expand the forest and green areas in the country. About 4 million trees were planted in the country in 2023 alone."
