The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) has unanimously agreed to grant the TASS news agency the right to host the 19th OANA General Assembly in St. Petersburg this June, according to TASS.
"The unanimous decision of the OANA Executive Board members to grant TASS the right to host the organization's 19th General Assembly in St. Petersburg this June is a testament to the highest authority of TASS in the global information community," OANA Secretary General Zaman Rezakhani said following a vote at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
On behalf of TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov, First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman assured the attendees of the OANA Executive Board meeting that "TASS will guarantee that the 19th OANA General Assembly meets the highest standards. Assembly participants will have the chance to attend the plenary sessions, engage with prominent Russian politicians and public figures, and also explore the northern capital of Russia."
The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies was established in 1961 at the initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Its mission is to actively promote diverse perspectives on global events and advocate for the concept of a multipolar world. OANA is the world’s largest media organization — it brings together over 40 news agencies from 35 nations, responsible for the distribution of two-thirds of global information.
