Frost destroys over 100,000 tons of fruit in Czechia

The frost in the Czech Republic at the end of April destroyed more than 100,000 tons out of the expected 138,000 tons of fruit, Report informs via the Czech News Agency (CTK).

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, the country will have a record low fruit harvest - about 30,300 tons. In the last 34 years, the lowest fruit harvest in the Czech Republic was collected in 2011—101,249 tons.

Farmers are expected to receive a total of 100 million kroner (about $4.7 million) in financial compensation from the state. In addition, they should be supported by specialized funds of the European Union.
