A food security summit could take place in 2024 in Ankara or Istanbul, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Türkiye Vasyl Bodnar said, Report informs.
The possible summit was discussed on March 8 during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Türkiye.
“The talk was about holding a major summit on food security in Türkiye after the peace conference on Ukraine in Switzerland. As part of the peace formula, Türkiye took over this issue. We expect the event to be organized either in Ankara or Istanbul this year," said the Ukrainian diplomat.
He also mentioned the possible visit of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ukraine without specifying the timing.
“President Zelenskyy will be happy to welcome Erdogan to Ukraine. We are also planning a visit of our prime minister to Türkiye,” he added.
Bodnar also spoke about negotiations ongoing with Türkiye on restoring the destroyed infrastructure of Ukraine. “Roads, bridges and infrastructure in Ukraine are damaged as a result of the war. Contacts with Türkiye continue to restore them,” the Ukrainian ambassador said, adding that these issues are expected to be discussed during the visit of Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat to Ukraine.
