The Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has died in correctional colony No. 3 in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Report informs referring to Russian media.
“Medical workers of the Federal Penitentiary Service arrived immediately, an emergency medical team was called. All necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, but they did not give positive results. Emergency doctors confirmed the death of the convict. The causes of death are being established,” the service reported.
On February 14, the politician’s spokesperson, Kira Yarmysh, reported that Navalny was sent to a punishment cell for the 27th time during his imprisonment.
It is reported that he felt unwell while on a walk, lost consciousness, and arriving doctors pronounced him dead.
Alexei Navalny was 47 years old.
